Transfer Amex Points to Avianca LifeMiles with a 15% Bonus
While not as good as the 25% bonus from Citi to LifeMiles back in March, we have another promotion to earn an additional 15% bonus on points transferred from American Express to Avianca LifeMiles. This bonus will show up as a separate transaction on the LifeMiles side, so do the math to know how many points you’ll need. Just take the number of miles needed and divide by 1.15 to get the total number of points you’ll receive.
This promotion is due to end on June 30th 2024, so if you have any trips you’re looking for, this is a nice little promotion. I wouldn’t speculatively transfer points just for this, however. We’ve seen better promotions in the past with LifeMiles and Amex (as well as Citi and Chase).
How to Earn American Express Membership Rewards Points
You can earn American Express Membership Rewards Points through a number of cards like the American Express Platinum, Gold, Green, Everyday, and Everyday Preferred.
Avianca LifeMiles
I’m sure 99% of you have probably never heard of Avianca or their frequent flyer program known as LifeMiles. They’re a South American airline that is a member of Star Alliance.
LifeMiles are also pretty easy to come by as they are a transfer partner of American Express, Citi, and Capital One.
I’ve booked tons of flights with LifeMiles over the years but I don’t think I’ve ever actually stepped foot on one of their planes. Being a member of Star Alliance means you can use LifeMiles on any of their partner airlines to book flights from first class on Lufthansa for 87,000 miles or business class for 63,000 also on Lufthansa or on Swiss, Austrian, United or a ton of other carriers.
With this bonus from American Express, you would only need 76,000 Amex Points to book Lufthansa first class or 55,000 points for business class to Europe!
Wrapping Up
American Express is out with a decent bonus to Avianca LifeMiles where you can get a 15% bonus on transferred points. While I wouldn’t speculatively transfer them, it is a nice little bonus if you have a flight in mind.
