Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich Review

To start off our trip home in Lufthansa First Class we visited the First Class lounge in Munich. While we didn’t have too much time, it was a great way to pass the time before our flight to Frankfurt where the real fun would start.

There are two First Class lounges in Munich’s Terminal 2 with the other one being the Satellite which I’ve heard is nicer and has better views. We only had about 30 minutes before we needed to get to the gate for our flight and this lounge was only a 5 minute walk so we went to the lounge located between gates G21 and H21.

Lufthansa First Class Lounge Entry Requirements

Lufthansa has a number of lounges in Munich (and Frankfurt for that matter) but the First Class lounges are by far the best if you have access to them. So how do you get in?

  • Passengers traveling same day in First Class with Lufthansa or SWISS. You can be departing or arriving and still have access.

  • Lufthansa’s top tier HON Circle members get access to these lounges when flying any Lufthansa group airline same day regardless of class of service.

  • American Express Centurion cardholders get access to these lounges when flying any Lufthansa group airline same day.

While we were flying from Munich to Frankfurt in Lufthansa Business Class (their highest cabin on intra-European flights), because we were on a First Class ticket same day, we were able to access this lounge.

The door to the lounge is quite unassuming with only a tall yellow sign standing out front to let you know you’ve arrived. You need to press the button on the right side of the door to unlock it. I pressed it a few times assuming you needed to be buzzed in.

Once I figured out the door and realized the button just unlocked it, we were on our way. There’s a short hallway that leads to a set of stairs or an elevator. Since our daughter was in her stroller, we decided to take the elevator.

Once upstairs, we were greeted by a lovely employee who checked our boarding passes and welcomed us in.

I don’t know why, but I was sort of surprised by the size of this lounge. It isn’t huge by any means as there really aren’t a ton of passengers who have access to this lounge.

When you first walk in there are a few different seating areas along the right side of the lounge with the dining area and bar on the left. More on that to come.

Then further back there are a number of private work stations on the left side of the hall with a cigar/smoking room in the back right.

In the past there were even complimentary cigars but now there are just refreshments in there including a display of Freud Whisky which I guess is Germany’s version of Scotch. While I love whisky, it was 8:20am so I did not partake.

Further down the hall and to the left is where the bathrooms are located. And when I say bathrooms, in addition to what American’s would call a bathroom, they also have an actual bathtub in one of the rooms as well as two with showers. While I didn’t partake in a bath or a shower, I did check them out. Now, it probably seems pretty gross to take a bath or a shower in an airport, I can assure you these were all spotless as there is a dedicated bathroom attendant who keeps everything spotless.

Lufthansa has a cult following in the points and miles world because of their rubber duckies. Back in the day they used to have a rubber duckie for you in the bath. So many people started taking them that they made it a thing and now you can just ask for one. It has even gotten to the point where Lufthansa creates special editions for different holidays or special events. We picked up two (each) to get our collection started.

The bathroom attendants don’t even have them anymore so you’ll need to ask the front desk for them. They are happy to hand them out but just one per passenger.

There was also a great little kids corner that my 1.5 year old daughter played in for a little bit before our flight. Nothing like what we had in the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt but it was still a nice touch.

Back up front they have a full bar as well as a buffet with a lot of different breakfast options. Additionally there was an a la carte menu which we didn’t have time to take advantage of.

Wrapping Up

While not the largest or fanciest lounge I’ve been to, the Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Munich was great, especially for a quick pit stop before our next flight.
