How to Earn Bilt Points without Renting
I talk a lot about Bilt on here and for good reason. First, they have a great points currency just like American Express, Chase, Citi and Capital One. Second, they’re the only transferrable points currency you can earn from paying your rent for free. Lastly, they have great promotions on the first of every month for their Rent Day which gives me good content to post about!
But what if you don’t rent? There are still a number of different ways to earn Bilt points even if you aren’t a renter and you don’t even need the Bilt Mastercard!
Earn Bonus Bilt Points with Lyft
Probably the easiest way to earn Bilt points is through their partnership with Lyft. You’ll earn 2x Bilt points when you ride with Lyft. All you need to do is link your accounts and select Bilt as your loyalty partner. While the Bilt Mastercard earns 3x points on Lyft rides, I would pay with your Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve to earn 5x Chase points in addition to the Bilt points. That’s a whopping 7x points on each Lyft ride.
In your Lyft app, click on your profile, then Rewards, then Rewards Partner and link your accounts.

You can also use your Bilt points to pay for your Lyft rides, but please don’t do that as it is a poor value.
Bilt Neighborhood Rewards
There are a number of partners that Bilt has where you can earn bonus points. You’ll need to add your credit card(s) to your Bilt Wallet so that you can earn said rewards. Additionally, you can earn 100 bonus points for each card you add up to 300 points.
Bilt Neighborhood Dining
Earn Bilt Points at Neighborhood Dining restaurants when paying with any linked card. This is in addition to earning points from whichever card you use (which should be the American Express Gold to get 4x points on all dining purchases). The Bilt Mastercard earns 3x points on all dining purchases.
You can earn anywhere from 2-10x Bilt points on participating restaurants. I’m seeing all restaurants in my city as 3x points. While these aren’t always restaurants I’d normally seek out just for the bonus points, it’s a nice little bonus on top of the 4x points I earn from dining for a total of 7x.

Walgreens
Bilt has a partnership with Walgreens which may be one of their most innovative yet. You can earn 2x points on all Walgreens branded products, 1x point on all other Walgreens spend, and an additional 100 points on each prescription refill. If you use your Chase Freedom Unlimited you’ll earn 3x points as well.
You could theoretically have the pharmacist run each of your prescriptions as separate transactions in order to get 100 points each time but that might annoy them as well as the people in line behind you. This is great as most of my family’s prescriptions throughout the year are well under $100 meaning I’m effectively earning way more than 1 point per dollar on all prescriptions. If you have a $5 prescription you’re earning 20x points on that spend. Pretty good if you ask me!

Automatic Healthcare Savings Reimbursement
The innovative part of this is that you can actually link your HSA or FSA account and Bilt will automatically recognize the purchase as being HSA/FSA eligible and will submit the charge for reimbursement. Best of all, you’ll earn points on the purchase too which you wouldn’t normally get by using your spending account’s debit card.

Fitness Classes
You can earn up to 10x points for select fitness classes booked through the Bilt app at participating Neighborhood Fitness gyms. You’ll likely see partners like Pure Barre, and Soul Cycle as well as many others depending on your city.
What Can I Do With Bilt Points?
Bilt has 15 airline and 5 hotel partners that you can instantly transfer your points to. This is by far the best way to get maximum value from your points. On May 13th Bilt added Japan Airlines as their 20th transfer partner!

Earlier this year I transferred 24,000 Bilt points to United for a flight the three of us will be taking from Gothenburg to Frankfurt on Lufthansa this summer. The cash price of those tickets would have been a whopping $633! While I did have to pay $35.10 in taxes and fees, this was a pretty incredible redemption. Each of those 24,000 Bilt points were worth 2.61 cents each which is way more than the 1.7 cents I value them.
Wrapping Up
Earning points through Bilt even if you don’t rent or have their credit card is super easy and you don’t even have to think abou it. There are a ton of other great redemptions out there and while you probably won’t earn a ton of Bilt points each year without renting, they certainly add up.
